Opportunities and Limits: Financing Large Investments of Local Public Administrations in the Center of Romania – May 12th, 2023, Miercurea Ciuc
On May 12th, 2023, together with Miercurea Ciuc Municipality, we co-hosted a workshop, in order to discuss about the challenges and the opportunities related to financing local public investments. The event, bearing the title “Opportunities and Limits”, gathered more than 100 attendees and provided a platform for valuable discussions between essential stakeholders in the financing area and local public authorities.
The workshop was designed to highlight the acute need to enhance the capacity of administrative-territorial units to finance and co-finance investments projects, given their own limited own financial resources. Representatives of more than 50 administrative-territorial units accepted the invitation and we also had the pleasure of being joined by Romanian Government officials and members of 7 top local financing institutions and financial experts.
We were happy to see that a significant number of leaders gathered to discuss these topics that are crucial for regional development. It was an excellent forum for brainstorming, and the discussions were at the same time informative, stimulating and productive. Along with the attendees, we created a framework for cooperation and the manifestation of the joint desire to find solutions for improving local financing. This collaboration type is vital to secure a sustainable and fair development in all the country’s regions.
We want to thank everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the workshop and we are eager to build on this experience, in order to further develop even more platforms for dialogue and collaboration.
Special thanks to our partners from Miercurea Ciuc Municipality and from the financial institutions, whose expertise and perspective added great value to our talks. We are confident that the relationships and the ties formed at this event will continue to bring benefits in the long run.
“Opportunities and Limits” was a major step ahead, however, there is still much more to be done. We are convinced that together we can achieve significant progress in enhancing local public financing. After all, our joint goal is to make sure that all the communities in Romania have at their disposal the resources they need in order to develop and thrive.
